Portrait of an Artist: John Popham, cello | June 25, 2026
In the ancient sense of the word, genius is that which makes us unique. Each WWCMF artist approaches music from a unique perspective. All have in common the qualities of excellence and character. The Portrait of an Artist series reveals the genius of the individual performer through an interview-recital featuring a variety of works. You get to hang out with a consummate artist for an hour and experience their life in music while deepening your own.
Tasting Music: David Schiff, Vineyard Rhythms | June 26, 2026
Where the PoA series focuses on the performer, the Tasting Music series focuses on the object of performer and listener alike, a piece of music; in this case, a masterpiece. Each event explores a single composition, how it was put together, why it sounds the way it does, and the context surrounding its composition and reception. This series reveals the genius of the music and does so with a sense of humor, accessibility, and informal camaraderie.
