First Friday Artist Reception | Lucy DePaolo | August 7th, 4pm-7pm

Lucy DePaolo is an abstract mixed media artist whose work explores identity, memory, and the stories that shape us. Drawing inspiration from the natural world and her diverse cultural heritage, she uses color and texture to create evocative “internal landscapes” that reflect resilience, connection, and the search for shared understanding. Her work invites viewers into a space of reflection, healing, and reconciliation.

First Friday Artist Reception | Lauren Urlacher | September 4th, 4pm-7pm

Lauren Urlacher is a floral artist based in Spokane, Washington. After rediscovering a high school painting assignment while studying at Eastern Washington University, what began as a stress-relieving dahlia painting quickly grew into a passion for fine art.

Today, Lauren creates hyper-realistic floral paintings, focusing primarily on dahlias. While many assume her subject choice reflects a love of the flower itself, her true interest lies in exploring form, light, detail, and the challenge of mastering a single subject. When she's not painting, Lauren works as Community Manager at Fellow Coworking, connecting with Spokane's vibrant community.

First Friday Artist Reception | Clint Whitsett | October 2nd, 4pm-7pm

After a 30-year career in graphic design, illustration, and marketing, creating everything from catalogs to trade show exhibits and traveling the world for corporate events, this artist made the leap to fine art in 2020.

Now a full-time painter, his work combines loose, expressive brushwork with areas of striking detail. Drawing on a lifetime of visual storytelling, he often enhances color, composition, and contrast to create paintings that capture not just reality, but what makes a scene truly compelling.

First Friday Artist Reception | Janet Fagen | October 2nd, 4pm-7pm

Janet is an artist whose practice centers on painting and printmaking, where imagination, memory, and optimism come together. Inspired by time spent in nature as a long-distance runner and skier, her work reflects a deep connection to the natural world.

Through her art, Janet balances specificity and ambiguity, inviting viewers to bring their own experiences and interpretations to each piece. Her belief in the intrinsic value of wild places and her desire to foster meaningful connections with nature are central to her creative process.

By celebrating the beauty of the landscape and the compassion of humanity, Janet seeks to share the gratitude and wonder she feels for the world around her, inspiring those same feelings in others.

First Friday Artist Reception | Tracy Poindexter-Canton | December 4th, 4pm-7pm

Tracy Poindexter-Canton is a Spokane-based mixed media artist whose vibrant collages and portraits explore Black American identity, literature, memory, and self-expression. Combining materials such as paint, paper, found objects, and textiles, her work blends storytelling with visual art. Inspired by intuition and creativity, Tracy creates bold, layered pieces that celebrate culture, connection, and the human experience.
