Tasting Notes
This is an Anomaly. In January of 2004, an Arctic front descended upon eastern Washington devastating our Walla Walla Valley vineyards with 70-100% bud kill leaving Reininger Winery with just one barrel worthy of the Reininger name. This lone barrel of Seven Hills Vineyard Carmenere was blended with our finest 2004 Columbia Valley vineyard blocks: Cold Creed Cabernet Sauvignon and Stone Tree Petit Verdot. Lively acidity lifts currant, blackberry, cherry and strawberry fruit-leather, all supported by elegant soft tannins and wood tones, coconut, caramel and vanilla. An exceptional wine from a very difficult vintage.
