Reininger Chocolates, Just in Time for Valentine’s Day!

Right now, we have two of life’s best things in combination for our tasters. Bright’s Candies in downtown Walla Walla has created 2008 Reininger Merlot-filled dark chocolate cordials for our 2013 Valentine’s day. After the success of our test batch of Helix Merlot chocolates last year, we brought them back and are now offering them in our tasting room through the weekend. Seriously, does it get much better than that? For the record, I have only sampled two (as opposed to some)…and they were both delicious.

Here is our current tasting list (though if you’re very nice, you can probably talk Izzie or Shellie into opening other current releases for you):

2008 Reininger Mr. Owl’s Red

Aromas: Oak spice, red berries, red liqorice, smoke, soy sauce and cinnamon baked red apples.

On the palate: Medium bodied with flavors of red berries, grilled steak and toast with chalky tannins.
2008 Reininger Merlot

A true Reininger Merlot, indeed! This juicy, mesmorizing red will leave your mouth watering as you envision freshly cut wildflowers and summer berries frolicking in your head. Just as you awaken from your fantasy and wipe the giddy, spellbound smile off of your face, out leaps the dark chocolate, warm baking spices, and fresh-cut cuban cigars onto your palate wheeling you into the depths of this rich Merlot.
2008 Reininger Malbec

Displays a rustic character of leather, earth, mushroom and spice reminiscent of traditional Malbec; perhaps it’s the maturity of the nine year old vines. Finely ground white and black pepper, dried fig, pomegranate, black currant with ripe blackberry flirting in the background satiates my palate along with hints of cocoa and vanilla beans, osso Boccu, braised lamb shanks, hearty stews, and rustic country vegetables are yearning for this Malbec.
2009 Reininger Syrah

Aromas of soy sauce, sesame oil, plum sauce, blueberry pie and lavender!

Palate: silky smooth texture and medium bodied. Flavors of blueberry, black pepper, cumin, orange peel. A spicy wine with nice balance.
2008 Reininger Carmenere

The Reininger Carmenere is more refined than in past vintages yet still maintains it’s classic rusticity through it’s signature peppercorn. Flavors of over-ripened strawberries, plum and currant stir fried in drops of seasame oil tossed with suggestions of caramel and new oak spice layout an exotic flavor profile. Don’t rush it. Let it linger.

Come visit, drink some wine, eat some chocolate, and enjoy your Valentine’s Day!
