Gearing Up for Fall Release 2012

As one eventful weekend ends, another crazy weekends begins here in the world of Walla Walla wineries. Yes, my friends, it is Fall Release weekend. Popularized by that crafty Cayuse, Fall Release is now a standard of wine tasting weekends here in the valley. I love Fall Release way more than the other major weekends (Holiday Barrel and Spring Release) because it’s a little lower-key, more local, there’s a lot less bad weather, and there is not a poinsettia in sight.
Here’s a lineup of what we are releasing at Reininger’s Fall Release 2012:
2011 Reininger Reserve Chardonnay
2008 Reininger Carmenere
2009 Reininger Syrah
2004 Reininger Anomaly (finally released to the public!)
& 2011 Helix Viognier
(with a nod from Rand Sealey’s “Review of Washington Wines”!)
Here, Chuck Reininger has turned out one of the most exquisite Washington Viogniers I have run across. Brilliant gold colored, it offers an enticing nose of pear, peach, Crenshaw melon, pear blossom, lilac and jasmine. The white fruit compote flavors are fresh and lively, accented by notes of peach stones, melon rind and stony minerals. The back picks up sensations of poire William liqueur, grape skin, a twist of orange peel and a touch of crème fraiche, followed by a burst of bright fruit acids that lend vivacity to the crisp, well delineated finish. This has an uncanny resemblance to a Condrieu. 19/20 points.
We will also be tasting quite a few of our past releases as well AND laughing AND having fun, so you should definitely come out. If you are a Wine Club member, stop by for a few minutes or the entire afternoon and hang out with Chuck in our private Wine Club tasting area, where you’ll get the gold-star treatment and be able to taste any new release wine (sadly, I can’t promise that to the public). I’ll try to sneak some good music into the tasting room, as well, though I’m pretty sure Jay has about 1, 293 copies of Michael Buble CD’s that he keeps whipping out no matter how hard we try to eradicate the winery of them. Come one, come all! See you this weekend!
