Justin on Reininger 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon
Justin on Reininger’s 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon
The ’07s my favorite vintage [of Reininger Cabernet Sauvignon] we’ve ever made. It’s extremely accessible now, in its youth. It’s a wine that is definitely going to age well and improve with time. It’s well balanced, has lots of concentration and loads of flavor. The alcohol’s in check. The tannins and acids are really well balanced. It’s a very pretty wine. It’s drinking great now, but it’s going to be excellent in five to seven years.
It [the aroma] does have some of that leather and casiss, even some cocoa notes, and a little bit of smokiness. It’s got a really long finish on it, which is something else I like in a wine. I can’t wait to have it in another five years…..even though now I am really enjoying it.
Get yourself some!

Wine Club Members Get First Dibs
Members Get First Access to New Reininger Wines
Members of Reininger’s Red Wine Club are first to gain access to our new releases. This week, our members received the 2007 Reininger Malbec, Walla Walla Valley and 2007 Helix SoRho. Both these are “small lot” meaning we produce these wines in very small quantities; 180 cases of Reininger Malbec and 300 cases of Helix SoRho.
Club Wines Paired with Regionally Inspired Dishes
Winery partner Ann Tucker researches, selects, tests, modifies and ultimately commits to the page menus and recipes for each of our wine club selections. Introducing her recent collection of recipes paired with the latest Wine Wlub wines, she wrote:
“Following the notion that foods generally pair well alongside the wines they grew up with, we’ve put together two menus for our Fall shipment: an Argentinian-inspired menu for the 2007 Reininger Malbec, and a country French “dinner un ville” for the 2007 Helix SoRho. These two wines are ideal choices for this time of year, because they pair so well the with rustic and earthy foods of Autumn.
And for those of you who enjoy firing up the grill all year long, we’ve included a Chili-Espresso Rubbed Steak recipe. With flavors of earth, spice, and dark red fruit, either the SoRho or Malbec will make a nice pairing. Consider accompanying the steaks with the beet salad or roasted eggplant, plus roasted potatoes and the Pear Flan for a third menu.”
We will send Ann’s recipes out to our email list over the next several weeks. Be sure to receive Ann’s recipes as well as other winery news and offers by adding or updating your email address here.
